- The automation of the year 2000 Brazilian Demographic
Census, done by the Brazilian Institute of Geography
and Statistics (IBGE), the country's main provider
of data and information to answer the requirements
of the federal, state and local government agencies,
as well as the private sector.
- In 2002, a law was enacted that required the
Government of Brazil to return portions of an Indemnity
Fund that was retained by the Government. This required
that all payroll records had to be reviewed for
the years 1989 and 1990. The compelling event for
FEBRABAN was how to review all the old paperwork
and registration forms quickly and painlessly to
make sure the employees were reimbursed their money.
This is when they turned to Politec to provide a
solution. In five months, Politec processed 20,915
microfiche, representing more than 16 million bank
statements from the 85 banks. 100% of the images
were collected and input into the data base and
11,710,027 statements were reviewed (69% usability,
31% images enhanced, 100% acceptance). With these
results, all returns were processed in less time
than was targeted and within budget.
- With offices and activity throughout Brazil,
China, Japan, Europe and the United States, Politec's
staff includes professionals from all continents
on the globe, attending notable clients such as
the U.S. Department of State, Federal Bureau of
